Yamashita - Dvorak's New World Symphony & Stravinsky's Firebird Suite (a review)

© Copyright 1997, Jim Loy

Kazuhito Yamashita is one of the most amazing guitar players of all time! He is a young man, born in 1961, who transcribes orchestra favorites (such as Mussorgsky's Pictures At An Exhibition and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade) for guitar. And, he (and sometimes other members of his family) performs these amazing pieces. They are apparently very difficult to play.

The album that I have been listening to today is his version of Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 "From The New World" and Stravinsky's The Firebird Suite. It's not only amazing, it's very pretty.
