A Fractal Wave

© Copyright 2002, Jim Loy

a fractal wave On the left, we see the sum of several sine waves (drawn using Geometer's Sketchpad and Paint Shop Pro). There is a great deal of self-similarity here. Each sub-mountain is a copy of the whole mountain. The function is this:

y=sin(x)+sin(2x)/2+sin(4x)/4+sin(8x)/8+sin(16x)/16+sin(32x)/32+sin(64x)/64+sin(128x)/128+sin(256x)/256+sin(512x)/512
