The Love Bug Virus

© Copyright 2000, Jim Loy

New killer computer viruses spring up every few months. The most recent one has been called the Love Bug Virus, by the media. Of course it is not a bug, but it is a virus. It is more often called the ILoveYou or the LoveLetter virus. It was apparently invented by a young man in Manila. The virus comes to you via email, with the subject "I love you" (usually), and is a macro which runs under Microsoft Outlook. For some reason, it spread throughout the world faster than any previous PC virus. Here is Yahoo's LoveLetter Virus page.

Apparently, last year's Melissa Virus is still doing damage.

If you have an anti-virus program, make sure you continue to get the latest updates (you may have to pay to renew every year or so), because new viruses keep coming out. See Norton Anti Virus.
