Montana State University Sweet Shop's Pop Corn

© Copyright 1999, Jim Loy

The Sweet Shop, in the Strand Union, at Montana State University, sells candy, cookies, pop, and pop corn. I used to buy pop corn there, until tonight. I would buy the large $1 size. It was often too salty. But, I suppose most people like it that way. That seems to be the way most microwave popcorn is. Tonight, the box was about a third full of tiny pop corn bits and old maids. It was not pleasant. The previous two boxes, over a period of months, were almost that bad. Anyway, I have had enough of that.

It is now a year later. I bought some more popcorn. I figured that new employees might have made a difference. Nope. Same crappy popcorn. My microwave oven makes popcorn that is ten times better (a little too salty, though).

Addendum:

I recently walked by the same Sweet Shop, and saw the shiniest, newest, darkest chocolate fudge that I had ever seen. I couldn't resist. I asked for a dollar's worth of it. And the person behind the counter dragged out an old tray of chocolate fudge, and actually struggled trying to cut it with a knife. Some of it actually crunched in my mouth. By the time they finished with that hard fudge, I suppose the soft stuff was hard. I'm not going back there if they pay me.
