The book The Viking Precision Club, by Glenn Groetheim and Alan Sontag, says this:
The main rule is that the relay system is abandoned [after interference], and we continue naturally. However, if you have advanced sufficiently far into a relay sequence that a step scale is in use however (Sidestep, Splinter, '54 Pick-up, Six-shooter or CRASH [various relay slam conventions]), the sequence continues.
The book gives this popular table (based on PODI):
I would like to mention that an interfering double or minimum bid actually gives the relaying partnership more bidding room, and so I would expect such a team to continue relaying, especially when slam is still a possibility. But I suppose it is important to find a fit (and name a long suit) in some situations.
