I enjoy reading this kind of book, the ones with bizarre news stories. This one is good, having normal stories like:
Manila, The Philippines - Three people on a drinking bout died of poisoning after eating a frog they saw jumping out of a canal...
The title story left me stunned:
Cairo - Six people, including four from the same family, drowned when they jumped into a well to save a chicken in south Egypt...
The chicken survived, by the way. The book contains happier stories, too.
Reuters is an international news service, by the way.
One of my favorite headlines (quoted in a different book) was "Police Shoot Man Threatening Suicide." I suppose there was more to the story.
